A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

(This is the original free student project. The fully complete Octodad: Dadliest Catch can be purchased here.)

Octodad is a third person adventure game about destruction, deception, and fatherhood. The player controls Octodad, a dapper octopus masquerading as a human, as he goes about a day of his life. His existence is a constant struggle, as he must master mundane tasks with his unwieldy boneless tentacles while simultaneously keeping his cephalopodan nature a secret from his human family.

The player controls Octodad like a marionette, dragging his arms and legs around while his body flops along. The player’s goals are often simple household chores made difficult and interesting by the flailing, tenuous control they have over Octodad’s body.

Being an octopus also has its strengths. Octodad can slip through tight spaces, grab objects with his suckers, and knock things around with tremendous strength. But if the player does things too out-of-the-ordinary, Octodad’s family will grow suspicious and realize what he really is. If they do, it’s game over for Octodad!

Let me fix what I said.

So this takes quite a while to download. It actually took me about 2 days to figure it out (my computer and I are quite slow and im impatient so of course it took me 2 days).

BUUUUT....This is a very good game. The controls are very hard to manage, slightly annoying, but that's literally how you play it and you get used to it anyways so🤷.

I've never played the actual game, but Ive seen game plays. This is not like the original, but its very familiar and like I said, its very good :)

First of all, why would it need to change anything? Second, that's rude. Just because I'm not a computer geek does not mean you get to call me a moron. If I started asking you a bunch of things about music or medicine I bet you wouldn't know much about that. If you want anyone to take you seriously, be nice to them. You could just answer nicely and explain or just leave it alone.

well.... most programs you download have to ask permission to change things on your harddrive, like google chrome and stuff. It's to install the program. I don't exactly trust this download to the fullest, but you should only be skeptical of installations when you have no clue where they came from. Or if they have sketchy file names like "Setup.exe." Most of the time your antivirus will catch these before you give it permission.

A lot of applications on this website seem sketchy, as they do require you to authorize them on some permission. However, if you're looking to actually run the applications, then you may have to take this risk. Octodad isn't that sketchy though, in my opinion. He does look really crusty though.

Of course they do. Any installer requires you to give them permission to add files to the hard drive.

Octodad is a must play game if you wanna alot of fun. Not only is the controll unique in itself. But the game has a good story behind it. This is the funniest student project I ever played and they improved so much on everything later for the game Octodad: Dadliest Catch.

The best part is that this student project is still free so all of us can enjoy it. Definitely a game everyone should try.
